WILLIAMS MOTOR COMPANY - THE TRADITIONS OF EXCELLENCE
The Williams commitment to quality and service which today supports one of the areas most forward-looking, successful and prestigious motor dealerships dates back to the early 1900s.
It was in 1909 that John Henry Williams founded the Williams Wheelwright Works in Manchester and began repairing horse-drawn vehicles for London & North Western Railways.
As horse-drawn vehicles gave way to motor vehicles, the nature of the trade changed in 1926, John Henry and his sons decided to undertake motor maintenance. By 1938, the company’s main business was repair specialist for leading insurance companies.
Seven railway arches were converted into a compact, self-contained workshop and a round-the-clock recovery service was established. During the war years, the company concentrated exclusively on HM Forces’ vehicles and in 1947, the Ministry of Defence offered the firm a central workshop in Fazakerley.

WILLIAMS MOTOR COMPANY - THE TRADITIONS OF EXCELLENCE
The following year Fazakerley Engineering Company was formed and the company’s main operation was moved from Manchester to Liverpool. At its peak, it employed 325 people.
The business continued to fulfil government contracts until December 1985 when the government decided it would no longer fund contracts.
In 1954 came the forerunner of the modern-day business. Williams Motor Company (Walton) was established to run a Shell-owned forecourt on Rice Lane, together with a small showroom and workshop facility.
When Shell announced the decision to develop and run it’s own site, Williams’ successful sales operation was transferred in 1976 to Scotland Road. This transfer coincided with a franchise change to Citroen and BMW and the company then began trading under the name of Williams Motor Company (Liverpool).

By the early 1990’s the business had outgrown the Scotland Road premises and moved to a new purpose built dealership prominently situated at the junction of Great Howard Street and Leeds Street. It continues to trade under the BMW franchise retailing new and used vehicles as well as offering a full range of after sales facilities.
Today, the company holds the BMW franchise in both Liverpool and Manchester city centres, along with dealerships in Bolton and Rochdale. Its operation is hugely successful and continues the long-established family values on which it was built.
All dealerships are fully supported by their own independent bodyshop facilities, at present on Hadfield Street, Manchester and Pall Mall, Liverpool.
BMW continue to be at the forefront of vehicle technology and Williams are committed to supporting the franchise by delivering a consistently high quality of service to all of its customers.

The new facilities will offer our customers a much larger showroom, enabling us to display a greater model range, with full lifestyle range and accessories. Customers will also be able to relax in a comfortable waiting area and look forward to taking delivery of their new BMW in a specially designed hand-over area before driving home.

With the development of our new site, we will have a seperate Aftersales centre, just across the road from the main building. Incorporating state of the art facilities, we will offer a full range of servicing and support for BMW and MINI customers.

The New BMW 3 Series Preview Evening was a highly successful event, attracting over 100 of our customers on the night for champagne, canapes, and a live Jazz band. Of course, the biggest attraction of the evening was the Elegant new BMW 3 Series!

In May 2003 we took a giant leap forward when we relocated from our premises of 27 years on Marsh Road, to this fantastic modern site on Leagrave Road!
The new dealership not only improved the facilities that we could offer our staff and custmers, but also increased our workshop area from 7 work bays to 13, and allowed for a much needed customer parking area!
